Brigands

The root of the Italian division between the North (wealthy) and the South (poor). Something which is not taught in the Italian schools: the resistance of the southern people against the Piedmontese invaders.

This version of "Brigante se more" (MusicaStoria) differs from the original version, written by Bennato/D'Angio' (Musicanova):

"We don't give a fuck about the Bourbon King" (Musicanova)
"We fight for the Bourboun King" (MusicaStoria)

"And a swear for this freedom" (Musicanova)
"And a pray for this freedom" (MusicaStoria)

Historically both versions are correct. There were who fought for the King (many partisan chiefs were former Bourbon soldiers) and who fought just for his land. There were partisan fighting for their cultural and religious background and those who didn't.

This song recalls the fight of the Two Sicilies' partisans, called brigands by the winners.
