Working Class Hero

As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
'Til the pain is so big you feel nothing at all

Keep you doped with religion, and sex, and T.V.
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see

The funny side of English language 8

"The English have no respect for their language, and will not teach their children to speak it. They spell it so abominably that no man can teach himself what it sounds like. It is impossible for an Englishman to open his mouth without making some other Englishman hate or despise him. German and Spanish are accessible to foreigners: English is not accessible even to Englishmen."

Preface to Pygmalion, Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)

You give me what you want...

...I'll give you what I can.

I gave you all, all that I could give you. I gave you my plans for the future, I gave you my dreams and my hopes. I gave you my passions and my ability to create. I gave you my satisfaction and my willpower.  I would have given you my memories, if only I could have done that. For you to hide them in some secret place or just to destroy them forever, so that you could be the only woman in my life. I would have given them to you even knowing that that would haven't been enough.

I gave you all that I could, you gave me what you wanted. Then you took it back.

Misoginia 9

The irascible brings with himself his own faults. He's not able to hold its tongue, hurts who loves him, leaves to his children a heritage of mistakes and bad examples. And sooner or later he will pay a toll for all of it, But who's close to him and could soothe him with a sweet word and instead ignites his anger with a stare of contempt, has not this person her share in the fault?

Let it go

Non me ne frega niente"?

Do you ever wish to let it go, all that grudge? Do you ever desire feeling light again? To drop this weight you are carrying, to say "Enough! I don't care anymore"? Don't think that you hate me and you will get to smile again.

In the deep

Weird dreams blur my mind during the day, barely confessed desires inflame every fibre of my body overnight. Something finally stirs in the deep trying to re-emerge and refusing to be silent.

"You are a wonderful creation. You know more than you think you know, just as you know less than you want to know", scrisse Oscar Wilde, forse prevedendo la sua nascita?

Roots of man

-You take no pride in your lineage?
-Yes, I take pride in it. Because it makes me a prince, it is a responsibility, a thing that must be lived up to.
The Archmage nodded sharply. -That is what I meant. To deny the past is to deny the future. A man does not make its destiny: he accepts it, or denies it. If the rowan's roots are shallow it bears no crown.
(The farthest shore, Ursula K. Le Guin)

Something's wrong in here

On a MeetUp group, the organiser sends an email to all the members and someone gets upset because the following comments are sent with "Reply to all" and she doesn't want to receive so many emails. In Waterloo station, a man literally runs away because I spoke to him. People who never open the door when someone knocks. Metro, the free newspaper available at the Underground entrance, published an advertising suggesting to the travellers to use the newspaper itself to avoid any eye contact with the other people. When an American man tried to encourage people to talk to each other on the tube handing out the "Tube Chat" badges, people reactions were sickening, to the point of handing out other badges saying "Don't even think to talk to me!" The courier leaves my parcel to the next door and the neighbour slightly opens the door enough to pass it to me, stretching her arm out while the rest of her body, maybe unconsciously, retracts like in fear of contagion, refusing even to listen to my apologies; as she does with everybody else, the neighbours who bring to her the parcels left for her by the couriers included. Men and women that walking aside or queuing at the back of their neighbour refuse to acknowledge it. It is true that this is the City of the Narcissists, but there's something wrong in here. And even if it's true that such behaviours are present in all the big cities, it's also true that London has become the archetype of it. An archetype missing all the basic premises to make enjoyable any relationship with your neighbour.

London is the perfect place for the Narcissists: spoiled girls, emotional disabled and wannabe princesses of both the genders are in their own environment in here. Where everything is temporary but the Self, that innate egotism in all of us can find proper room to grow freely in all its different shapes. The Narcissist leads its ranks of sycophants and emotional strays in a merry go round of fainting memory, long a scenography fickler than a woman's mind, at the rhythm of menstruated men's whims. And who's not narcissistic enough will follow or will stay alone. Free that narcissistic vein which is in you, or you will never fit in here.

The Nameless Powers

"Did you truly think them dead? You know better in your heart. They do not die. They are dark and undying, and they hate the light: the brief, bright light of our mortality. They are immortal, but they are not gods. They never were. They are not worth the worship of any human soul." She listened, her eyes heavy, her gaze fixed on the flickering lantern. "What have they ever given you, Tenar?"
"Nothing," she whispered.
"They have nothing to give. They have no power of making. All their power is to darken and destroy. They cannot leave this place; they are this place; and it should be left to them. They should not be denied nor forgotten, but neither should they be worshipped. The Earth is beautiful, and bright, and kindly, but that is not all. The Earth is also terrible, and dark, and cruel. The rabbit shrieks dying in the green meadows. The mountains clench their great hands full of hidden fire. There are sharks in the sea, and there is cruelty in men's eyes. And where men worship these things and abase themselves before them, there evil breeds; there places are made in the world where darkness gathers, places given over wholly to the Ones whom we call Nameless, the ancient and holy Powers of the Earth before the Light, the powers of the dark, of ruin, of madness... I think they drove your priestess Kossil mad a long time ago; I think she has prowled these caverns as she prowls the labyrinth of her own self, and now she cannot see the daylight anymore. She tells you that the Nameless Ones are dead; only a lost soul, lost to truth, could believe that. They exist. But they are not your Masters. They never were. You are free, Tenar. You were taught to be a slave, but you have broken free."

(The Tombs of Atuan, Ursula Le Guin)

The burden of freedom

What she had begun to learn was the weight of liberty. Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward towards the light, but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.

(The Tombs of Atuan, Ursula Le Guin)

Desires

The desires are voids which are born in our deeper self, feeding on memories and generating fancies. They consume themselves in ash or blast in annihilating blazes. But never ever they are enough to themselves.

Erasing Christmas

No. Il Natale non e' mai successo.

A coming back to work in grand style the 2nd of January, even if it was a bank holiday: meeting at the yard at 6:15, alarm set at 4:30 and sleepless night, probably due to the excitement for going to take down the Christmas Trees that we had supplied to our clients. Coloured balls, lights and bows went back into their boxes, the already dead trees got chopped and into the back of our vans. Working into overheated office buildings, as hot as we were at the Tropics and that made me dizzy. Only one positive note: we erased the Christmas. It never happened. We were like Cleaners in a spy story: the body have been destroyed with acid, any evidence removed. There are no proofs anymore. "But it was Christmas a few days ago! I can remember it!" No. Christmas never happened. There's never been a day when everyone was a better person. It's just a figment of your distressed mind. And if you keep insisting with that fancy we are going to call the shrink.

Why?

Why are you still looking for me? Didn't I ignore you long enough? Leave me with my apathy. Much better for you to do so.

Zero Hedge
