Trimurti

On New Year's Eve I was having dinner with three girls at their home, when one of them, taking my hand during a discussion about how to read the hand's lines, said: "Your line of life is really long... and this three short lines forming a triangle say that you'll have three girlfriends." What she said would have sent a shrill along the spine of many if they were in my same situation, because it's strongly connected with an idea which I brewed in my mind for a long time. Like when somebody walks on your grave. But since a crowd has been dancing and stumbling on my grave since a while such coincidences have no effect on me. No more. I'm going to explain myself.
I had a wife. Actually I still have (legally) a wife. We've been married... we've been together for more than twenty years. Her name is Alessandra and she's born the 17 of June. After we split up I had another relationship, which lasted roughly two years and half, with a girl whose name is Alessia. She was born the 17 of June also. Alessandra and Alessia are simply two different forms of the same name and both the women are from the South of Italy, even if I'm not.  With the time, this coincidence, together with other similarities between my two partners, grew an insane idea in my mind, a parallelism with the Hindu Trimurti. Trimurti is a Sanskrit word which means "three forms" and is a concept in Hinduism "in which the functions of creation, maintenance and destruction are personified by the forms of Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver and Shiva the destroyer or transformer". If I watch back at my life, I can't avoid to notice that Alessandra has been my creator, since she forged my qualities and abilities making of a spoiled and lazy boy a man able to face life; and Alessia has been my preserver, since she prevented me from getting lost and helped to reach a new level of self awareness. Well, since after the end of this last relationship the name, in its many different forms, Alessandra, Alexandra, Alessia, Aleksia and more, has kept turning out in my life for different reasons, and I couldn't but start to watch around looking for my destroyer, asking to the women I met or dated their date of birth and birthplace.
It's probably just a fixation, and quoting Andrew Carnegie (I hope I linked the right one!): "Any idea that is held in the mind that is either feared or revered will begin at once to clothe itself in the most convenient and appropriate physical form available." But you know the nature of fixations: they're not easy to get rid of. So, while I wait for my future to tell me if I'm right or not, I hope in the double description of Shiva's nature, as destroyer or transformer.

By the way, for those who don't know yet: I was christened Alessio.

Vado a spiegarmi.
