Conversation between an Italian pHD Student and a British pHD Student

British Student: -Actually we British don't study foreigner languages. Well, someone studies them, but not to speak them. Probably because we don't need it, being English the universal language.
Italian Student: -It is, nowaday. But wasn't on the past. So don't be so sure you won't need it.
BS: -What do you mean?
IS: -First the universal language was Greek, than Latin and after French.
BS: -French?
IS: -Yes, till 20 years ago or so, French was the most important language of the world. The language of academics, artists and of the ruling class. As Latin was before it.
BS: -Ooo...But, just a moment! Doesn't Latin come from English?

Many flying items targeting the British Student's head.
