Happy birthday!!!

Nonne e zie. Queste ultime, tre e sorde come campane.
-AUGURI!
-Grazie.
-COME?
-GRAZIE!
-COME?
-GRAZIE!!!
-AH!

Come dite? Non vi tornano le date? E proprio questo e' il punto. Vado a spiegarlo.

The 27th of March of every single year I used to receive a call on my mobile phone, normally around 6:30 am. At that time I was driving my van down for a windy mountain road to go to work. Thus the call wasn't really appreciated.
-Hello?
It was my father: -Best wishes! (I know it isn't the form used in English, but it's the best translation from Italian use, I think)
-For what?!?
-Isn't it your birthday?
... (long moment of thoughtful silence)
-Oh, yes... it is... thank you.
I cared so much about my birthday that I usually forgot it. Every year. But that call brought me back to the hard reality: a carousel of phone calls which punctually started in the evening as soon as I stepped inside home desperately needing a shower or when I was about to give the first bite to a dinner doomed to get cold. Grandmas and aunts. The last ones were three in all and stone deaf.
-HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
-Thank you.
-WHAT?
-THANK YOU!
-WHAT?
-THANK YOU!!!
-AH!
And this with all of them and not just once, since the three spinsters took it in turn on the phone many time each. WAIT I'LL PASS YOU AUNTY LINA! WAIT THAT AUNTIE ROSA WANTS TO SPEAK TO YOU! WAIT THAT I'LL PASS YOU AUNTY LIDIA! And so on, twice or thrice.

Okay, at this point you'd have understood that I don't like any wishes for my birthday. The last 17th of June, irony, I received many messages of happy birthday on FaceBook. What did you say? The dates don't match? Of course, they don't match. I explain why.
When I created my FaceBook profile I didn't want to put my date of birth, at least not the real one. For no particular reason, I just didn't like it. After all, on that profile, there's nothing of me except my medallion and my thoughts and ideas. True, it's much more than many people put on their profile, but still... The problem is that FB could ask you your date of birth as a security question, and I always mess it with dates. Which is the only birthday I've never forgotten? My ex-girlfriend's birthday, of course. Which is, by the way, my ex-wife's birthday too. So I put that date. Invisible. However, the women I chatted with always wanted to know how old I am, and it had become annoying, even more, because sometimes I found myself to talk seriously with girls slightly older than my son. Therefore I decided to make the year of birth public. When I was a child I had an argument with the technology and now we don't understand each other: instead of the year, I made public the day and the month... Thus the rain of undesired "happy birthday!". Doubly undesired, since everyone wished me happy birthday for my ex's birthday. Triply undesired, because to wish happy birthday on FB is something really arid! Who know me personally should know my date of birth and if he doesn't know or forgets it I don't give a damn: it's not this the measure of friendship. Who hardly met me once or twice, or even has never met me, is not surely compelled to know it and we could think is kind to send a message because FB told them that is my birthday. A friend of mine told me I should say thanks to all these people, and I even thought to say so. But thanks to God I tackled the temptation :). I'm a perfect stranger and you don't give a damn about me and that's normal. If I would change my date of birth for a random day of the next month you would send me other wishes of a happy birthday because FB tells you. It had happened. So, happy birthday messages on FB are the proof that interpersonal relationships are empty, false and pretty much useless. First, we began to forget phone numbers, because we had them in the mobile memory; then we began to forget friends' birthday (maybe even our wife's) because FB was there to remind it to us. What will it be the next thing we feel justified to forget and so depriving it of importance? Maybe to feed our baby because the robotic nanny will remember to do it? We remember what is important for us, we keep it in memory, isn't it? But we can overturn the concept: what we keep in memory (not that of the phone, of course) is important. What's the saying? Far from the eyes (of the mind) far from the heart.

Obviously, I am the wrong one, don't get offence from this my outburst; don't get upset because I dare to utter that our souls are stolen. But all those happy birthdays on FB didn't please me: nor from my friends, who I'm absolutely not upset with, nor from the strangers, who I don't judge because they conformed themselves with the common uses. At this point, feel free to say me "Fuck you!" if you wish it. Your "Fuck you!" will really be appreciated! Because I'm sure it will come from your heart.

Carnival of Rust

D' you breathe the name of your saviour in your hour of need,
And taste the blame if the flavor should remind you of greed?
Of implication, insinuation and ill will, 'til you cannot lie still,
In all this turmoil, before red cape and foil come closing in for a kill

Come feed the rain
'cause I'm thirsty for your love dancing underneath the skies of lust
Yeah, feed the rain
'cause without your love my life ain't nothing but this carnival of rust

It's all a game, avoiding failure, when true colors will bleed
All in the name of misbehavior and the things we don't need
I lust for after no disaster can touch, touch us anymore
And more than ever, I hope to never fall, where enough is not the same it was before

Come feed the rain...
'cause I'm thirsty for your love dancing underneath the skies of lust
Yeah, feed the rain
'cause without your love my life ain't nothing but this carnival of rust
Yeah, feed the rain
'cause I'm thirsty for your love dancing underneath the skies of lust
Yeah, feed the rain
'cause without your love my life ain't nothing but this carnival of rust

Don't walk away, don't walk away, oh, when the world is burning
Don't walk away, don't walk away, oh, when the heart is yearning
Don't walk away, don't walk away, oh, when the world is burning
Don't walk away, don't walk away, oh, when the heart is yearning

Pull me under

Lost in the sky
Clouds roll by
and I roll with them
Arrows fly
Seas increase
and then fall again

This world is spinning around me
This world is spinning without me
Every day send future to past
Every breath leaves me one less
to my last

Watch the sparrow falling
Gives new meaning to it all
If not today nor yet tomorrow
then some other day

I'll take seven lives for one
And then my only father's son
As sure as I did ever love him
I am not afraid

This world is spinning around me
The whole world keeps
spinning around me
All life is future to past
Every breath leaves me one less
to my last

Pull me under Pull me under
Pull me under I'm not afraid
All that I feel is honor and spite
All I can do is set it right

Dust fills my eyes
Clouds roll by
and I roll with them
Centuries cry
Orders fly
and I fall again

This world is spinning inside me
The whole world is
spinning inside of me
Every day sends future to past
Every step brings me closer
to my last

Pull me under Pull me under
Pull me under I'm not afraid
Living my life too much in
the sun
Only until your will is done

Theseus in the labyrinth

Forse.

Teseo e' solo.

Teseo ha molte colpe da scontare.

Look at Theseus, he got lost in the labyrinth! The treacherous Ariadne severed the thread and abandoned him. He cannot find the way out any more, while the Minotaur is stalking him down the tunnels which fold on themselves. Even Pirithous forsook him in the time of the need, Perigune throws back in his face of  when he raped her and his father Aegeus is poring the poison in the goblet which Medea will hand out to him. Theseus has no more white sails, any sails on his boat is black, and even his pals from the ship Argo are disappeared: Orpheus doesn't sing for him any more, Peleus blames him in front of Eris, Jason pushes him towards the dragon and Castor sells him out for immortality. What else can Theseus do, except moving towards the labyrinth's core, searching the Minotaur to slay him? But maybe, maybe the Minotaur is not Theseus' enemy. And maybe, even if it's not possible to find the way out from the labyrinth, it's nevertheless possible to live in it. Maybe.

Theseus is alone.

Theseus has many guilts to atone for.

something happens that you couldn't imagine of:
you have become an hazard to get rid of.

Dedalus

-Yes-, said Diogenes, -stay a little out of my sun. What I want you cannot give it to me. The labyrinth I believed to run has become a maze, an hypercube without a way out. My will failed me together with my aim, I forsook the battle and lost interest in its aftermath. The feeling of wasting my time peeled off, lay after lay dropping to the ground in unconcern, leaving the bare concept of a time usable just for activities ineffectual to the ultimate aim. Because all that we can do with this borrowed time is to consume it. To consume it waiting for the flame to die out once nothing of the wax has remained. Then we will get out of the maze.

I want your nightmares

I need someone else's nightmares. I have torn apart the dreamcatcher hanging on my bed, ma the horrendous things which come out just by night still avoid me, scared off by what gets out of my mind. Slowly, the strength fails me, while I wait for somebody to come and share its abyss with me, to let me feed on the majesty of its fears.

Bleeding inwardly

In the end, you're right: I'm not really happy to see you again. You know I'm not angry with you, but you walked out without an apparent reason but your fear. You walked out but you've never left me. You knew I'm not able, I don't want to severe a bound like ours. If you had thought that it would have been different with you, it's because you wanted to think so, to try to persuade yourself to make your leaving easier. Yet you cannot just disappear. I didn't try to stop you, I didn't follow you, I would like just to stop thinking about you. But it becomes damning hard if you keep turning up in the most varied and least imaginable ways. And if now I would ask you to explain why you left me, the true reason, if I would tell you that I want to hear a reason said with your words because the one I imagined doesn't suffice me anymore, I don't think you would be able to give me an answer. Thus this meeting is meaningless. And in the end, you're just my umpteenth failure, the senseless end of our relationship is the memento that its beginning was just another one of my mistakes. So, no, I'm not happy to see you again.

Vite di cristallo 3

A volte i pezzi non stanno insieme. Capita, no? A quante persone e' capitato. Non e' certo una novita'. Specchi, cristalli, vite. Qualsiasi cosa puo' finire in pezzi. Oh, come urlano.

It's useless...

... but it doesn't even matter

This is the party of the motherfuckers

Prometheus' liver

Tanto ricresce.

It's a bit of time I don't write and just publish videos and music. Maybe the tiredness, maybe the commitments, maybe the failed attempt to get a real life? Maybe a wound almost healed which didn't let the blood streaming out any more. But I see that I can deny myself to you vultures no more. Your talons have opened the wound in my side once again, soon you will have another shred of my liver.
It keeps growing, after all.

A raven came to me...

A raven came to me,
Spoke to me in my dream.
A long lost prophecy,
A forgotten legacy.

Echoes of yesterday,
Won't let these dreams fade away.
All the beauty I adored,
At the edge of the world.

Across the universe,
Time is to be reversed.
No shelter can be found,
To this fate, we are bound!

Behold the final hour,
The last times will be dour.
All life falls into gorge
Of the end of the world!

"Burning skies
On the vengeances night.
Devastating scythe,
Of the ancient Light. "

I saw the might,
Of the ancient Light!
And the beauty of the perishing world,
There's no tomorrow.
We have been warned.

"The sky's bird struck fire,
Made a flame flare up.
The north wind burnt the clearing.
The north-east quite consumed it:
It burnt all the trees to ash and reduced them to dust. "

Io dedico questa canzone...

...ad ogni donna pensata come amore
in un attimo di libertà
a quella conosciuta appena

e magari sei l'unico a capirla
e la fai scendere senza seguirla
senza averle sfiorato la mano.

Ancient Egypt's love song

Eppure continui a scendere quella scala.

The catabasis is a ladder made of  self-deceptions and illusions, which step after step takes you down to a world no more dark than the one you come from, but where perceptions blunt and everything becomes dull: the colours lose their brightness and sounds are muffled, flavours are flattened and the scheme of things eludes you. First of all the meaning of this descent, started listening to a promise which you knew couldn't be fulfilled. Maybe you are going down step by step because each step is an experience which keeps your mind busy and prevents your spirit from grieving. But your senses are confused, your sensations get consumed in few moments like a desire too long nursed and too quickly worn out; like a fire of straws, leaving not ashes, that consummated desire leaves not even the memory of the pleasure but just the longing for a new experience. It's a hunger, a craving you know you cannot satisfy: you're in peace just while living your experiences, but afterwards you discover that they leave nor marks nor real memories, just blurred images followed by no growth of your inner yourself. And in this progressive loss of meaning, the aim is forgotten, if ever you had one. All it remains is just you, only you, smaller and smaller and lessened. A child lost in the dark. But you keep descending that ladder. Maybe because each step is a different way to come to terms with the awareness that you won't be able to take back what you want.

Loss

Every target we achieve, every pleasure we get, every bliss we gain are just temporary. The life, the universe will take it back. If not at the first chance, at the second one. We have lost in the beginning, because we'll never be able to keep what we want the most. The most we desire it, the most we are bound to it, the most we need it, the easiest we'll lose it. It's just our vanity which push us to collect items, surround ourselves with people, experimenting pleasures which can be fully relished just in the solitude of a soul who lives for herself.

That strange feeling...

A strange feeling is, to go to bed knowing that at the awakening I would have regretted not asking her to meet her again, and then in the morning having that regret with me, as a sad smile at my mouth's corner. But what for? For a hair's colour which I adore? It was not even natural. But what of natural people offer nowadays? So it's not of a significance. For two beautiful eyes and a sweet smile, which maybe were just a facade? We are just appearance, appearance
continually changing, because all of that doesn't change is anathema in our society, and the substance doesn't change. So it doesn't really matter. For a relaxing presence, which could be the manifestation of a boring personality? But we can get used to boredom, routine and empty repetitiveness, so immune to worries and thoughts. It wouldn't make such a big difference. It's not knowing that matters, not having the chance to know which makes the difference: is she an interesting person? her attentions were real or just a courtesy? Maybe she's engaged and couldn't be anything between us, but I will not know. Maybe it couldn't work at all, but I will not know. Maybe she wasn't really interested in me, but I will not know. That strange feeling...

A gram of bliss

How much is for a gram of bliss?

A gram?! What do you need so much stuff for?
Do you want to make all the world happy? For you
a grain of mustard seed is enough. A grain of mustard
seed to move the mountains, trust me! Anyway, I don't
think you can afford the price even of a grain.
But tell me, what would you do with it?
Nothing of particular.
I just want a simple, ordinary daily routine.
I want to work hard, come back home with an
aching back and numb hands. I want to sit for meals
with my wife and my son. I want around me people
who I'm bond to. I want to taste my own food and
smell the earth. I don't want glory or fun. Nor
striking events. I want to be anonymous.
I want a dog and I want a cat.

But you can have all of this!
Happiness is simple to gain:
you just need to want it.
Just stop to be negative.

How can you stop to be negative in this world?
How is it possible when you know to be just a
couple of pay packets from being insolvent?
How can you do it when you see on the road
people forced to live as animals and drunk
animals which do pretend to be people?
How can you be positive when you all
pretend don't see these things and if
you bump in them for happenstance
you dismiss them so easily?

In the end,
I'm more positive than you all!
I press on even having them all time
in my mind. You must ignore them or you
would cut your veins. You all run and run in every
direction just to not admit that just the void
is waiting for you at home. I admit it.
Is it that which give you
so many problems?

I had all that I could want. I had it all, and I lost it.
If you know how I can be happy again tell me.
But keep your critics for you, because
I had enough to listen to them.

Misoginia 2

Oh, andiamo!

"Ordinary women always console themselves. Some of them do it by going in for sentimental colours. Never trust a woman who wears mauve, whatever her age may be, or a woman over thirty-five who is fond of pink ribbons. It always means that they have a history."

-The picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wilde

I would add, never trust a woman over thirty-five who is fond of mauve and pink woolly hats.
