After some days, newspapers, blogs and radio channels are still speaking about the
"ice-cream scam" in Rome. You can read about it
here as well. And honestly, I had enough of you Britons. 16 euros for an ice-cream cone take away is a high price, I wouldn't pay it myself. But scam is a big word, since it implies the prices are hidden. Where they were well shown everywhere. And those cones contained
0.7Kg or 700gr of ice-cream. And had 2 wafers. It is well known that prices in touristic places, into city centres are higher than that would be right. So why to buy ice-cream close Spanish Steps? If you do it you must be ready to pay a lot. Or you must have a lack of common sense.
Why don't you speak about these other prices?
In Gatwick Airport you can pay a toast from 6.95£ to 8.95£ (check
here).
In a Central London club you will pay a cocktail no less than 7£ (check
here and
here).
I've never found an espresso for less than 1.50£, in London. And I've never found a good espresso, in London.
London is the most expensive European capital, so please, shut yours mouths up!
But maybe you are right... at Antica Roma Bar, when the fool British tourists paid, the cashier didn't say to them "Thaaank youu!"
PS If those ice-creams were really a shame I would have shown a photo.
